Adoption policies and procedures

The Adoption fee and what it includes:
Well, here's the lowdown. Our adoption fee is $120 for one cat or kitten, and $200 if you adopt two at the same time (because two is better than one!). Each of our cats and kittens have already been:
  • Spayed or neutered;
  • Microchipped;
  • Tested for FeLV (Feline Leukemia) and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus);
  • Vaccinated with at least one FVRCP vaccination. We keep all of our foster kitties current on their FVRCP vaccines so depending on the age of the kitty when you adopt him or her and how long we've had the kitty, the vaccine series may be complete. If not, you as the adopter will be responsible for any further vaccinations in the series;
  • Treated for fleas; and
  • Dewormed.
These services would ordinarily run up a bill of over $250.00, so you're actually getting quite a bargain! Of course a donation on top of the adoption fee is always welcome, since many times we must provide additional medical care such as surgery for injuries or congenital problems, x-rays, blood panels, fecal tests, treatment for ear, eye, upper respiratory infections, and viruses. Remember though, all veterinary care once you've adopted a new pet into your family, are your responsibility for the life of your pet.

*Please note that in certain cases of purebred or rare-breed cats, the adoption fee may be higher.

To help ensure that we place our cats in loving, responsible, and committed homes, we have a screening process involved in adopting a pet from Kitten Rescue. We reserve the right to turn down potential adopters as we deem necessary. A home delivery or visit is a required part of the adoption procedure.
Return Policy
If for any reason you wish or need to return a cat you've adopted from us, you can do so within 72 hours for a full refund of the adoption fee. After that, be it months or years later, if you need to give up your Kitten Rescue cat or kitten, you must return him/her to Kitten Rescue. We won't be able to refund the adoption fee, but we will place him/her in a new home. We don't ever want our kitties to end up on the streets or at the Shelter again!

Making a Committment
Kitten Rescue cats are so for life...we're always here to answer questions and help solve problems. By adopting a cat from Kitten Rescue, you're making a commitment to provide love, care, and medical treatment for the life of the cat, which can be up to 20 years. Adopting a cat is a serious commitment, but one that is rarely regretted!   Please take this responsibility seriously. If your are unable to make such a 20 year committment, why not become a foster parent instead?
