They may have four paws, but they can always use a helping hand! Kitten Rescue operates solely on the time, energy, and dedication of our volunteers. There are many ways you can get involved! Even if you only have an hour a week to help out, that's ok, we always are happy to have the help.
There are always cats that need to be saved and Kitten Rescue is always looking for fabulous new foster parents!
Fostering means you get to save the life of a cat or kitten in need, all in the comforts of your own home. Whether you can care for one cat or many, we would love for you to become a Kitten Rescue Foster Parent! You don't have to have fostering experience, or even cat-care experience! We offer training, guidance, and lots of moral support. Learn more about our Foster Program here.
Because there is some driving involved, we recommend that foster parents live in Los Angeles or the San Fernando Valley.
Kitten Rescue couldn't survive without the help of our volunteers! We are always looking for help at our Sanctuary, our various pet store enclosures, with transportation, special events, and myriad other opportunities. If you have experience or would like to gain experience in any of these areas, please email our Volunteer Coordinator.
Help transport cats to and from adoption events and vet appointments.
Help care for the cats who live at our Sanctuary in Atwater Village (between Los Feliz and Glendale). A short orientation session will be provided for new Sanctuary volunteers.
Pet Store Enclosures
We have permanent enclosures set up in pet stores in Canoga Park, West LA, Stevenson Ranch, and Pasadena. Volunteers work in shifts to feed and care for the cats. Sometimes we just need people who will let the cats out to stretch their legs, get a little playtime, and enjoy some socialization.
Help is often needed setting up and cleaning up at our weekend adoption events. We also welcome volunteers who can socialize with the cats and speak to potential adopters and the general public.
We also have various special adoption events throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to transport cages, cats, and help us put on a good face!
We host various fundraising projects and special events throughout the year, some large and some small. Every dollar helps us keep our cats healthy and happy and allows us to save more animals! Contact our Marketing Director if you would like to help out!
A few of our foster parents have, admittedly, very limited photography skills! We are always looking for professional and amateur photographers to take photos of our foster cats so we can post them online.
Online Adoption Assistance
Some of our foster parents do not have access to a computer. We need volunteers who can help write bios of their foster cats and post them on our website. Potential adopters will then email you when they have an interest in meeting a foster cat. Training can be provided.
Get school or college credit by volunteering with a non-profit and have fun at the same time!
