Mission And Purpose
Mighty Mouse - this cutie was rescued from the Los Angeles South Central ShelterKitten Rescue is devoted to rescuing cats and kittens from the streets and shelter euthanasia. Approximately eighty percent of our cats are rescued from the Los Angeles City shelters at the "11th hour" right before they are scheduled to be euthanized.

Kitten Rescue also works with the surrounding communities to rescue strays and abandoned cats, and facilitates Trap/Spay-Neuter/Release (TNR) assistance throughout these communities. Kitten Rescue is equally dedicated to educating the public about responsible pet ownership, care of kittens and cats, managing feral cats and most importantly, the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes this educational material available via events, print, school presentations and our Web site.

Our Success
Since the inception of Kitten Rescue in 1997, we have rescued and placed over 5500 cats into loving homes. In 2003, Kitten Rescue pulled more animals from the Los Angeles shelters than any other rescue group. We are Los Angeles's largest rescue group and one of the most respected rescue groups in the country.
Blackberry was rescued fromt the streets and has trust issues. She is still waiting for the right home to come along.
Ciela was rescued from the streets with her 3 siblings and adopted into loving homes. What We Do
Each weekend, Kitten Rescue has ten adoption events at locations throughout the Los Angeles area. At these events, we not only adopt our cats into loving homes, but also provide educational information to the community. Kitten Rescue also provides the community with a free local hotline and discount spay/neuter vouchers. All of our rescues are cared for in volunteer foster homes until placed in adoptive homes. All potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure the stability and quality of an animal's new environment. Before being placed for adoption, each cat or kitten is spayed/neutered, tested for FeLV (and FIV if 6 months or older), treated for parasites (worms and fleas) and given at least their first FVRCP vaccination. We also provide all other necessary medical attention including, treatment for upper respiratory infection, eye and ear infections, skin diseases and surgery. Kitten Rescue assumes all medical responsibility, so the fosters are not burdened with this expense.
Nuggles was rescued from a feral colony where we fixed and released all the adults and adopted out all of the kittens. He is still waiting for a home though.KR Into the Future
Kitten Rescue's long-term goal is to establish a private, no-kill shelter/education center in the Los Angeles area to provide shelter and care for abandon cats and kittens and to provide the community with an option other than the city and county shelters, for animals they can no longer keep. Equally important is our commitment to continuing community education about responsible pet ownership, assisting the community with managing feral cat colonies and working to make Los Angeles a no-kill city.
